RN Type 45 destroyer construction battle widens

The SE Coast Development Agency, local MPs, Portsmouth and Southampton City Councils, the regional Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions and Vosper Thornycroft (VT), have formed the Campaign for South Coast Shipbuilding (CSCS). This is to thwart an apparent attempt by BAE Systems, a global defence conglomorate andit marine subsidiary from acquiring the whole of the 12-ship Type 45 construction programme, giving them a virtual monopoly of the Royal Navy's warship building.
