As a further development of the well-proven engine originally designed with conventional FIE, common rail technology can also be retrofitted to in service 32/40 engines. Indeed, in anticipation of the expansion of common rail technology in its four stroke, medium-speed engine range, retrofit capability was a major design objective for the MAN Diesel common rail system and is reflected in many of its features.
