RECENT DEVELOPMENTS in ENGINE ROOM

摘要

To achieve main engine fidelity in an Engine Room Simulator (ERS), it must operate in real time, taking all important engine performance variables into consideration, whilst cascade and knock-on effects are computed in real time. Realism of the physical model and dynamic responses to any given input, fidelity and real-time operation, is not the development challenge it was, which in part is due to the expertise and knowledge in the industry and the affordable computing power available.
