Gas and air give improved performance

The new design was developed by Stena's 14-person in-house design department Stena Teknik and highlights Stena's pioneering attitude. The vessel uses LNG as its fuel and as there is no heavy fuel oil onboard, the engine room installation does not need the particular equipment and systems such fuel requires. A further development of the initial EMAX design, the EMAXair is intended to reduce fuel consumption further. The vessel's hull is designed to keep air, supplied from compressors, trapped below the flat bottom. In addition the design incorporates a new shape of bulbous bow.
