Increasing power density

In 2005 ABB Turbo Systems started the development of the A100-L tur-bocharger for the two-stroke market. The market introduction in 2009 went very well and, since then, over 700 turbochargers have been sold. The main product objective for the A100-L was to enable engine developers to achieve optimum engine performance, thereby setting the stage for higher compressor pressure ratios and increased turbocharger efficiency. These were seen as essential to comply with the requirements of the IMO Tier II marine emissions regulations.
