Australian adaptation

Around the same time as the Rendel boats were being constructed, a separate small class of similar but larger monitors was built in Jarrow for the Australian Navy. HMVS Cerberus, and her sistership HMVS Magdala, were 69m (225 ft) long and earned four muzzle-loading 10-inch guns, two fore and two aft, in turrets behind 9-inch thick armoured breastwork.The guns had to be completely withdrawn into the turret for reloading, which took three minutes.
