Oil and gas analyst Mark C Lewis feels prices will recover in the next few years and stay robust. Speaking to The Marine Professional, he stated that he viewed current pricing as a ploy by OPEC states to shatter long-term investor confidence in the US shale market, which makes it a risky investment going forward: "Even if the oil price rebounds to last year's highs, investors will worry that they will face the same scenario. Once they have been burned, they will be extremely reluctant to invest-especially at the high levels of capex required to set up these new production systems, which leaves the playing field open to domination by OPEC."
