摘要

Hi, My name's Mark, I work in the shipping industry and I'ma'digi-holic'. I have been a digi-holic for 20 years (I once queued for three hours to send an email in 1995) and am really sorry for my sins-I must learn to be a technophobe. OK, admittedly, it's not quite that bad, but sometimes it seems that being a digital native or 'believer' in a traditional, conservative smokestack industry such as ours is akin to being a leper at a wedding. Let's face it, there is still a huge wave of cynicism and scepticism when it comes to the use of digital technology in the shipping industry and negativity abounds. Just the other day I was reading a piece by the erstwhile and normally spot-on journalist now turned reputable PR man, John Guy, that described how shipping could never be digitally savvy and there wouldn't be an 'Uber moment'.
