Obituary: Melvin Gordon

Melvin Gordon, Tootsie Roll chief executive officer, died at the age of 95 on January 18. Alongside his wife Ellen, he led Tootsie Roll Industries for more than 50 years. He had served as the company's CEO since 1962 and had not retired, remaining involved in all aspects of its operations and personally interviewing everyone from the foreman level on up. Gordon was very proud of the integrity of the company.
