Fabrication of Carbon and Polypropylene Composites for Automobile Applications

Carbon-polypropylene composite was developed for automobile applications. Physical and mechanical properties such as tensile strength, flexural rigidity and heat resistance of carbon-polypropylene composite materials were tested. Tensile strength shows that the yield increases when the proportions of carbon fabric increased in the carbon: polypropylene composite. On the other hand, the elongation at break was decreasing as the carbon fabric proportion increases in the prepared composite. In addition to this, 30:70 proportion's of carbon: polypropylene composite showed good result for tensile strength and flexural rigidity. Finally, the fabricated composite performed well for heat resistance to meet the need of automakers.
