By now, I hope you've seen that AutoPkg is a very useful tool for Mac admins. There are many recipes available for downloading and packaging third-party software. If you use Munki to manage your software installations and removals, AutoPkg can even automatically make new versions of third-party items available to your managed machines. With increasingly frequent releases of things like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Oracle Java, and Adobe Flash Player, it's great to have a tool that helps you make new versions available to your fleet. Though there are many recipes available, you may find the need to write your own. AutoPkg makes this possible, and you can write your own AutoPkg Processors as well, greatly extending the range of possibilities. If you create some useful recipes, consider sharing them with others!
