The art of fitting in There's probably not a person who can't remember the desire to be part of the "in" crowd, to fit in to that particular social group. In high school it might have been the Cool Kids, the Jocks, the Nerds, a specific Ethnic/ Cultural clique, the Student Government types, the Rebels, the Risk-takers (aka Bad Boys/Girls). In college it was probably more of the same, though now mixed with learning the customs of a different country/state/city. Following employment or marriage, the need to fit in somewhere, to belong, was still there. Romances often deal with relevant social issues, and finding a place for oneself is a popular theme, as seen in several reviews below. In addition, the Valentine's Day stories and Beverly Jenkins's historical will be of special interest to libraries planning Valentine's Day or Black History Month programs or displays.
