Die Konstitution der Welt — eine Analyse in friedenspolitischer Absicht

Globalization is by now a pervasively discussed social phenomenon. But which image of the globe, i.e. the world at large, is prevailing in this debate? The author elaborates a fourfold image of the world. He differentiates the OECD-world from a “new Second World”, mainly consisting of countries of the “East Asian miracle” and of East European countries soon to enter the EU as regular members. He further differentiates the Third World as the core of the developing world from the Fourth World, the latter being characterized by dramatic political, socio-economic and cultural regression of formerly fragile states towards variants of warlordism, violence markets and a culture of violence. On this basis the problems of an analysis of the world at large, its political implications and practical imperatives are delineated.
