Incorporating corpora: the linguist and the translator

Practising translators and scholars of translation will find in Anderman and Rogers' volume a thought-provoking collection of papers centring on the exploitation of electronic corpora in translation. The 13 papers approach the subject from a number of angles, ranging from general treatments of the value and possibilities of corpora and theoretical discussions of translation, to practical demonstrations of the use of corpora in contrastive analysis. The languages which form the object of study, although limited to European languages, are drawn from a variety of language families. Czech, French, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, Slovene, Spanish and Swedish all form the main focus of individual papers: further languages are referred to in passing.
