The language and intercultural communication reader

In recent years, the impact of globalization has prompted researchers in the areas of applied linguistics and language studies to expand their analytical frameworks in problematizing communication in intercultural contexts. This can be seen in burgeoning literature on the apparent inadequacy of theoretical models to describe, interpret and explain language behavior in a variety of contexts. This edited volume by Zhu Hua entitled The Language and Intercultural Communication Reader is an exemplary attempt to document the growing interest in research concerning communication in intercultural contexts. Given the diverse theoretical and methodological tools used in studying intercultural communication, the volume contains 22 chapters which are segmented strategically in six parts that cover different areas in the field.
