Your car, your castle

Despite the rise of nonwovens, knitted fabrics, along with woven materials, still have a predominant share of the global market for automotive textiles. Circular knitted products are used in car interiors primarily as seat covers, but also as headrests, door panels, headliners (the interior roofing), sunroofs, pillars, parcel shelves and boot covers. These fabrics are characterised by their flexibility in design, high-grade visual quality, the comfort they provide for seating and their adjustable stretch, which is critical in complying with the complex shapes of many seats. Warp-knitted fabrics are also employed to a lesser extent in door panels, headliners, pillars and boot covers.
