In this study, the in-plane anisotropic elastic-viscoplasic behavior of plain-woven GFRP composites is analyzed by using a homogenization theory. To this end, the homogenization theory of nonlinear time-dependent composites, which was developed by the present authors, is applied to the analysis. Moreover, the point-symmetric internal structure of plain-woven composites is utilized to reduce the domain of analysis, leading to significant computational efficiency. As a numerical example, we perform the analysis of in-plane elastic-vicoplastic deformation of plain-woven glass fiber/epoxy composites. It is thus shown that the present analysis reproduces the nonlinear behavior of plain-woven GFRP composites subjected to off-axial load as well as the linear behavior of the composites under axial load, i.e., the in-plane elastic-viscoplastic anisotropy of plain-woven GFRP composites. It is also shown that the elastic-viscoplastic behavior of plain-woven GFRP composites is affected by the offset stacking of plain fabric sheets.
