摘要

The present paper deals with a simple numerical approach to estimate depths of a buried sphere and horizontal cylinder using moving average residual gravity anomalies. The problem of depth determination has been transformed into finding a solution of a non-linear equation of the form f(z) = 0. Formulas are given to estimate the radius of buried structures. The method has been applied to synthetic data with and without random errors. The validity of the method is also tested on the Humble Dome gravity anomaly, near Houston, USA.
