Reductive Cyclization of Enones by a Titanium Catalyst

We have reported the first example of an early transition metal catalyzed reductive cyclization of an alkene with a heteroatom-containing functional group. Efforts toward the development of more synthetically useful methods including those that afford more functionalized and/or enantiomerically enriched products are in progress. Additionally, methods to. simplify this process experimentally are currently under study.
