The Properties of Wool fabric Prepared for Dyeing by Using Chemically Assisted Wet-setting Processes

The level of permanent set imparted and the stability of the fabric to subsequent dyeing are increased by the use of reducing agents in setting operations prior to dyeing. However,, their use has been criticized for damaging wool fibres. Work reported in this paper indicates that the effect of the setting agent on the final properties of the fabric is small.
