Discussion of 'An Improved Weighted Total Least Squares Method with Applications in Linear Fitting and Coordinate Transformation' by Xiaohua Tong, Yanmin Jin, and Lingyun Li

In the recent contribution on weighted total least squares (WTLS), the authors applied a WTLS algorithm without any assumption about the dispersion matrix of the coefficient matrix, which has been recently proven mathematically necessary to adjust an affine transformation (Mahboub 2012). In fact, this transformation is a structured total least squares (STLS) problem.
