Have My Parents Sinned Against Me? Exploring the Concept of Sin in the Pastoral Context

Many churchgoing individuals who seek help from their pastors, counselors, and caregivers are troubled by the notion of sin. Some find it extremely difficult to acknowledge that their parents have sinned against them. Others consider that the topic is oppressive or obsolete. And still others experience intense feelings of guilt, shame, and/or anger when they think about the concept. Given this situation, along with the prevalence and dire ramifications of parental sins, this article outlines a variety of lenses through which persons can deepen their understanding of the theme of sin.
