While David Glantz and Jonathan House told a balanced story in their masterful Stalingrad Trilogy and Frank Ellis focused on nuanced (largely German) details in his The Stalingrad Cauldron, army-level histories from the Soviet perspective are exceedingly hard to find, especially in English.~1 Dann Falk, an independent military historian, has crafted a new account of the battle from the Soviet perspective at the tactical and operational levels.
