International Technology Trade ― A Report

A one day seminar on 'International Technology Trade' was organized on 10 October 2002 at Pragati Maidan by India Trade Promotion Organization. The seminar was inaugurated by Sri K V Srinivasan Advisor, DSIR. Whereas, Sri J Vasudev CMD of India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), detailed the genesis of the seminar. While presenting the keynote address George Assaf UNIDO representative and Regional Director stated that India lags behind China in exports by more than 20 per cent and there is a need for big market push for tradable technologies developed in India. A new era of partnership with international companies has emerged viz., Institute of Machine Tool Technology at Bangalore presents many opportunities. Many technologies are developed by R & D institutions of India which remain on the backburner due to lack of market push.
