The Real Estate Academic Leadership (REAL) Rankings for 2016–2020

This is the sixth release of the Real Estate Academic Leadership(REAL) rankings for authors and institutions. These rankings onlyaccount for articles published in the top three real estate journals(Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Real EstateResearch, and Real Estate Economics). Unlike previous versions ofthese rankings, this year’s results include a discussion of ranking realestate journals based on a survey of the peer-reviewed literature.This discussion is intended to enhance recognition of the importanceand role of these rankings outside the context of traditional impactfactors. Where fluctuations in these rankings exist, movement continuesto be due to highly productive faculty members moving to otheruniversities. To a lesser degree, fluctuations in the rankings areattributed to hiring recent doctoral graduates with publicationrecords and, in some cases, retirements.
