Development of Ultra-Lean-Burn Preburners for Small Liquid Engines

摘要

As a first step to studying the technologies of a staged-combustion cycle, a prebumer demonstration model was developed. The detailed specifications of the preburner were determined from an imaginary 8-ton-class engine. The combustion pressure and overall O/F were about 200 bar and 60, respectively. More than 30 hot-fire tests were performed. The combustion was very stable, generating no characteristic frequencies. In addition, the exhaust gas temperature was lower than 700 K and the spatial and temporal temperatures were less than 10 K. Therefore, this preburner was prepared for the integration tests with a main combustion chamber and a turbopump unit.
