摘要

This special issue on 'Computing with Future Nanotechnology' is directed to the broad nanoarchitecture and nanosystems research communities working on novel post-CMOS directions. The special issue seeks papers on innovative ideas for solutions to the principal challenge facing integrated electronics in the 21st century: how to design nanoscale integrated circuits to overcome the fundamental limitations of CMOS based computing. In particular, such systems could (1) introduce new logic and memory concepts enabled by nanoscale capabilities; (2) leverage unconventional nanodevices including directions beyond simple switches or charge based devices; (3) involve novel circuit styles and/or new paradigms for 3D integration/manufacturing; (4) mitigate or tolerate defects and variability at much higher rates than in CMOS; and (5) rethink the methodologies and design tools involved. All submitted papers should clearly articulate a vision for a computing direction beyond CMOS and show how their approach contributes to this vision.
