摘要

In this paper, an improved analysis of dispersion effects on a lightwave source with four components of different angular frequencies corresponding to the desired millimeter (MM)-wave frequency has been reported. For optical subcarrier transmission, it is proposed to use an actively Mode Locked Laser (MLL) as an optical source. The MM-wave power penalty due to second, third and fourth order dispersion parameters has been obtained. It has been shown that the dispersion induced power penalty lies within the range of 3 dB to -0.5 dB at the linear chirp of 0.13π and transmission distance up to 10 Kms including the effect of higher -order dispersion (HOD) parameters. Further, it has been observed that dispersion induced power penalty increases with the increase in the transmission distance due to the influence of HOD terms.
