摘要

Recently, the general business sections of bookstores haverndisplayed and sold many books that examine famous individualsrnfrom the past and distill from their writings, behaviors, rnand other information a description of their approach tornleadership. The first one of these I recall was Roberts’ (1985)rnLeadership Secrets of Attila the Hun. Perhaps it was the catchyrntitle, but the book was a best seller. It is not surprising, then, rnthat we would see several authors pursuing this successfulrnpath. It is now possible to explore the opposite extreme fromrnAttila the Hun in Briner and Pritchard’s (1998) LeadershiprnLessons of Jesus: Timeless Wisdom for Leaders in Today’s World, rnand many styles in between in books like O’Leary’s (2004)rnThe Centurion Principles: Battlefield Lessons for Frontline Leadersrnand Salka’s (2004) First In, Last Out: Leadership Lessonsrnfrom the New York Fire Department.
