Smart Ticketing Alliance launch: 'When travel information and ticketing come together, the circle can be closed.'

On 17 June in Brussels, two years after signing a Memorandum of Understanding, the five founding members of the Smart Ticketing Alliance (STA) formally presented the Alliance to a wider audience of transport operators and industry players. Transport smartcard operators from 10 countries gathered to mark the establishment of a formal legal footing for the STA. This will now pave the way for a single transport implementation specification for NFC phones across Europe, as well as cross-border acceptance that will facilitate the implementation and deployment of NFC-enabled devices.
