摘要

The advance of petroleum industry is producing huge amount of seismic data, it is necessary to design effective compression algorithms for the storage and transmission of such data accurately. A semi-lossless seismic data compression method is proposed. The seismic data is first preprocessed and represented in matrix form. Then, after the matrix data is break into many equal-sized blocks, one dimensional or two dimensional discrete cosine transform is applied to each of them. After quantization, the data is encoded by using LZW encoding. Result shows that our algorithm can better balance the trade-off between the compression ratio and accuracy and can be used in the processing of the seismic data of geologic industry.
