Studies in the news: The 2007 State of the Nation's Housing Report

According to the 2007 State of the Nation's Housing Report, released by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, housing affordability remains a pervasive problem for an increasing number of Americans. Between 2004 and 2005 the number of households with cost burdens exceeding 30 percent of their income increased by 2.3 million, hitting a record of 37.3 million in 2005. This crisis of affordable housing is caused by a variety of factors — including the economy, the housing market, and amount of state and federal spending allocated towards affordable housing programs.
