The King County Housing Authority (KCHA) has received the 2008 Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Award in the category of public housing revitalization. The $5,000 award was presented at the 1 3th annual awards luncheon and membership meeting of The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, held in Washington, D.C., on June 11. King County was recognized for Seola Crossing at Greenbridge, the first phase of a four-phase HOPE VI redevelopment. All but 14 of the 1 87 family apartments utilize 9 percent tax credits. Of the tax credit units themselves, 39 have project-based Section 8 and 77 have public housing rental assistance. The project is comprised of 48 buildings with units constructed to be visitable by disabled persons.
