THE US DOT '04 PENALTY ACTION REPORT-A LOOK AT PHMSA'S ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS AND ON OVERVIEW OF DOT ENFORCEMENT

In the May/June 2006 issue of HAZMAT Packager and Shipper, we examined the year 2004 enforcement actions of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and the US Coast Guard (USCG). This time we will examine the enforcement actions of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA, formerly RSPA) during the same year. From the perspective of the regulated industry, a careful review of the inspection reports provides understanding of what inspectors from each of the agencies consider important. This may assist in preparing Jor the next inspection.
