The ecological water supply solutions were explored through the minimum monthly average flow method, the frequency calculation method, and the guideline regulation method to ensure the ecological safety and coordinate the balance between the socio-economic water supply of the reservoirs and the ecological water supply. In addition, the eco-friendly dispatch model of Hongyashan reservoir, which was an ecological flow-constraint optimised model, was built to explore the eco-friendly water supply of Hongyashan reservoir through the Multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). Results have shown that through the ecological dispatch, the impacts of the reservoir water supply on social and economic water consumption are relatively small, and the economic function values of water supply services are greatly improved; in addition, the application of ecological water supply solutions makes the water discharges of river channels reach the expected levels; besides, the water supply and demand has been balanced within the limitations of the control quota of groundwater exploitation.
