NHK, BBC Gear up SHV for London Olympic Games

Japan Broadcasting Corp. (NHK) and the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) have been preparing to cover the proceedings of the London Olympic Games in 2012 using Super Hi-Vision (SHV) technology developed by NHK. Last September, the two broadcasting companies have already conducted experiments on the transmission of SHV images from the studio of the BBC in London to that of NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL) in Tokyo. "We have had positive results and we see the technological prospects of SHV for the public viewing of the forthcoming London Olympics," said Dr. Keiichi Kubota, Head of NHK STRL.
