摘要

Bridging the span between libraries and museums has become an increasingly dynamic and collaborative venture. As a result, educational offerings need to be considered to keep up with the trend. This study aims to identify and discuss areas of common interest between two academic disciplines: museum studies and LIS. This study surveyed both museum studies and LIS programs in the United States in an effort to understand cur-ricular practices of both professions. The study observed museum studies rarely provide specialized tracks in sub-area practices. Instead, several museum studies programs offer elective courses for sub-area practices, such as collection development/management, preservation, and information technology, from LIS programs and other departments in their institutions. The study found that a number of LIS programs have incorporated more museum-related topics in course offerings and the infrastructure of the programs themselves. Many courses in LIS support specific work areas in museums, including collections, exhibits, and education. More courses now reflect the impact of information technology on museum work.
