Generalized Impedance-Type Boundary Conditions for Thin Planar Layers of Various Media (Review)

摘要

For thin planar layers, a detailed comparative analysis of the different generalized (containing the derivatives with respect to the fields) boundary conditions of the impedance type is given. For a dielectric layer, several versions of the boundary conditions suitable for solving different physical problems are presented, based on the exact expressions for the Fourier-transformed components of the electric and magnetic fields tan- gential to the surface. Numerical examples for the reflection and transmission coefficients are given. The phys- ical approach developed in this paper enables one to generalize the results for layers of more complex materials, such as inhomogeneous media and materials with complicated electromagnetic properties. Inhomogeneous dielectric layers are considered, as well as ferrite and other bianisotropic thin layers.
