This collection of papers by both U.S. and non-U.S. authors provides an array of concrete advice to the new U.S. administration with respect to the role of the United States in Asia. The authors hail from diplomatic circles, think tanks, Foundations, and academia. The book opens with Asian views of America's role in Asia. One premise that seems to be shared by most of the Asian authors is Asia's regional identity. Despite its diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds, Asia, particularly East or Southeast Asia, is becoming increasingly an integrated entity, reinforced by security and economic issues.
