FROM THE EARLY 1920S THE AIR FORCE STATION AT ROCK- CLIFFE, ONTARIO, HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN AERONAUTICAL TESTING AND, SUBSEQUENTLY, DEVELOPMENT. By 1931, by which time it was designated Ottawa Air Station, it had pro gressed beyond flight-testing newly-delivered or rebuilt air craft and was becoming involved in tests and trials of a broad range of materiel and techniques. The following is a description of the development and trial of a comparatively minor technique which was, nonetheless, of considerable importance to a then-current operational activity of the RCAE.
