Outline of Series 300X EMU Shinkansen Train Built for Testing Purpose at High Speed

摘要

Series 300X EMU Shinkansen train is built to make exhaustive inquiries into an ideal high-speed railway system depending on the friction between rail and wheel for the purpose of developing the latest and the best railway system viewed from various points including not only rolling-stock but ground facilities. This test train was completed in Jan., 1995, and a variety of tests are under way on the Tokaido Shinkansen. Outline of test train is introduced referring to the aim of development and problems to be solved for accomplishment of higher-speed train operation of railway.
