Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Safety and Security Policies and Programs

The U.S. and world economies, competition from other modes of transportation and a changing commercial environment have kept the railroad industry in a very dynamic state these past three decades. FRA has adapted itself to this environment and worked closely with the railroads to insure that they are not hampered by undue regulations, yet operate in an exceedingly safe environment.
