大都市における寺院墓地空間の変容に関する研究

摘要

This paper looks at transformations in urban temple graveyards. There has been a tacit image that temples are concerned with maintaining the conventional system of graveyard management. However, it is not necessarily appropriate to emphasize the traditional nature of temple graveyards. The paper, drawing on a field survey on temples in the Tokyo metropolitan area, demonstrates that urban temples have undertaken to address contemporary graveyard issues caused by a decline in traditional-style families, an increase in deaths of single people and diversified needs for graveyard design.%本稿は、都市に立地する寺院墓地の空間特性とその変容実態を明 らかにしようとするものである。人口の高齢化が進み、地方から都 市に移動した人びとの多くが都市部で墓地を求め始めたことから、 都市部での墓地需要はいっそう拡大すると考えられている。
