ストンボロー邸の二重ドアに関する研究

哲学者ルートヴィッヒ•ヴィトゲンシュタインが建築家のパウル•エンゲルマンと共同で設計を行なったストンボロー邸(1928年、ウィーン)は、主階のホールを中心とした求心的な空間構成、各部屋の壁面に見られる左右対称形に整えられたドアの配置、また部屋と部屋とを接続するドアの形状と開閉方法に強い特徴があると考えられる。ホールとそれを取り囲む4部屋のドアはすべて両開きのドアであり、それちは一重及び二重のドアの二種類から構成されており、二重ドアは主階にのみ配置されている。%Villa Stonborough is a "Mathematically configured" building designed by Ludwig Wittgenstein which is very rare in modern architecture. The aspects that distinguish the Villa can be observed in many calculated details such as the boundaries of the walls, which vary in thickness from room to room creating a wall projection, the height of the ceiling and the double doors. This research focuses on the doors in the main floor. The placement of the doors and the role they play in connecting the rooms is an important factor in this architecture. Centered on the Hall the doors connect to every room in the house. The dimensions and positions of these doors are determined by the internal logic of the Hall with strict precision. An on field measurement was taken of the rooms. Based on the patterns that emerged a Door Schedule was produced with the accurate sizes of each door clarifying the logical system applied through the doors that give the rooms their particular symmetry.
