US Navy conducts first test flights of GPS anti-jam system for small UAVs

The US Navy (USN) has begun testing the Small Antenna System (SAS), a GPS anti-jam capability designed for small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The first of several SAS devices underwent testing at the USN's Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Naval Air Station Patuxent River, in mid-July. "The system we have been testing recently is really one of the first demonstration units of this smaller technology," Mark Burroughs, PMW/PMA 170 communications and air GPS navigation integrated product team lead at NAVAIR told 1HS Jane's.
