UK Foreign Office appoints new SIS chief

In a statement released on 29 July, the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) announced that Richard Moore had been approved to succeed Sir Alex Younger as Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS, or MI6). Moore was scheduled to replace Younger "in the autumn" of 2020, according to the FCO. Before his appointment, Moore was Political Director in the FCO, having previously been the UK's ambassador to Turkey and Deputy National Security Adviser at the Cabinet Office.
