Ecuador eyes UAV for maritime surveillance

The Ecuadorian government is set to buy two unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with a synthetic aperture radar, electro-optical sensors, GPS and geographic information system for monitoring shore and maritime areas. Sources close to the programme told Jane's the contract award, worth about USD8 million and including an option for a third platform, would be announced by February.
