The UK government unveiled its new National Cyber Security Strategy on 1 November, with about GBP1.9 billion (USD2.33 billion) to be invested in improving cyber security and capabilities between 2016 and 2021. Funding for the new strategy was first revealed in the 2015 Strategic Defence and Security Review and builds on previous cyber-security plans. The first cyber-security strategy, covering 2011-16, worked to build on the development of cyber resilience, tackling of cyber crime, and improving national capabilities in the area through a programme valued at GBP860 million.
