摘要

The 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill was the largest industrial petrochemical accident in US history, and because the spill occurred in the deep sea, its impact on the environment has been difficult to assess. The Gulf of Mexico is among the most biologically diverse marine environments in the world, with new species being described every year. Yet, the long-term damage and potential recovery of these species post-spill is not well understood.
