There will be a year's delay in adopting the CE marking. The announcement was not unexpected - CEN/TC33 decided to extend the transition period for the full introduction of the CE mark on windows and external pedestrian doors at the beginning of October this year. Resolution 637c/2008 approved a year-long extension, a period in which the CE mark on windows and external pedestrian doors will coexist with existing standards before EN 14351-1 becomes fully effective. Instead of the previous deadline of 24 months due to expire on 1st February 2009, the new deadline will be 1st February 2010, or 36 months.
